#atozchallenge The whole class was standing in a circle. Baranaby stood in the East and I was in the North. His blond hair framed his head like a halo. His smile was timid but genuine. I was watching him bounce from one foot to the other, when before I knew it, I zipped across the room and gave him a kiss. Mrs Mean was facing the other way. I don't know what I was thinking. I scurried back. No time to look. Can't get caught. I wondered who saw me and what he was thinking. Act normal. Nothing happened. A stolen kiss. We both blushed. I'm in love. I don't know who got the biggest shock. We never spoke about it, and it never happened again. Mrs Mean would have smacked me if she saw me. Whether your 7 or 70 has love ever made you take an enormous risk? What was the outcome? Was it planned or a did it take you by surprise? *** I use #atozchallenge when sharing my favourite posts. I have some really embarrassing tales to tell and probably a bit inappropriate, too.
ReplyDeleteDon't worry - mine get a bit more embarrassing the older I get too ;)
DeleteThis is sooo cute.
ReplyDeleteI think most of us have had at least one Mrs Mean while in elementary school, eh?
My sentiments exactly Munir - ours wouldn't let children go to the toilet and then smack them for wetting themselves.
DeleteWe all have a Mrs Mean. But I don't think I wouldve been brave enough to steal a kiss from my sweetheart.
ReplyDeleteIf i had put a single bit of thought into it I wouldn't have been brave enough either... I still remember how shocked and out of control of my own body I felt
DeleteI've had a Mrs. Mean. The woman could have taught cruelty lessons to Hitler.
ReplyDeleteI wonder why those women became teachers at all….
DeleteI couldn't describe this woman any better William and you got me wondering the same thing Miss B :)
DeleteI think we all had a Mrs. Mean! Too cute!
ReplyDeleteI really wonder what made them think it was ok to be so mean!
DeleteHahaha! Barnaby was mikie and Mrs. Mean was Sister Norma....out on the school yard! Sigh.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I have learned to control those compulsions - otherwise a few people might have ended up with a cup of tea poured all over them :)
DeleteOnly on your second great love, and these are such fun. Of course love has made me take risks. But I want to hear all 26 of yours first!!
ReplyDeleteLove your choice of themes!!! And loving your real life story even more :)

Another lovely tale, I am so enjoying your recollections :). Risks...hmmm... I think falling in love is a risk in itself and it's such a wonderful one. I have to admit I'm more of a planner than a risk taker and my more impulsive moments are usually in defence of those I love rather than expressions of affections, those I contemplate first.

Tasha's Thinkings
Love is indeed a risky business. It's easy to get defensive on impulse when we protect people we love. If more people took the time to contemplate expressions of affection, it might never have to be so dramatic or painful. Well said.
DeleteThoroughly enjoyed this post! Of course, love has made me do some impulsive things. Things I would never ever had done otherwise. And yes, the outcome was good. Looking forward to further posts. Following you now on Twitter! :)
ReplyDeleteAnother day, and you've done it again.
ReplyDeleteI'm hanging on the edge of the cliff, super excited to see the rest.
Awww....now isn't that a sweet post! Keep going... :)
ReplyDeleteLove makes us thief, liar, spy, and what not!!! Great post!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure love makes us do any of those things - many things have been done in the name of love though :)
Deleteaww that's a so sweet :D
ReplyDeleteI fought a storm for love.. so yeahh took lots of risk :)
I'd love to know more. The Captain fought a volcano for me - well technically he found a way to catch a plane during a volcano that bought him closer to me :)
DeleteNow that is adorable. What a horrid person Mrs. Mean must have been ;) I have not DONE anything to speak of, in terms of love mishaps. Thought about.. well, let's not go there ;)
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing what we remember when we put some thought into it... Mrs Mean was horrid
DeleteAwee.... that was such a romantic story! I missed doing all this!!!
ReplyDeleteI don't miss it but I have fond memories :)
DeleteSuch a nice story, funny yet romantic. All the best for your April posts.
ReplyDeleteThat was so cute :)
ReplyDeleteHeh, the closest I've come to a stolen kiss is tackling a boy on the playground. :)
ReplyDeleteHaha Loni, we weren't as subtle as kids
DeleteOf course yes we have done this all :D stolen a kiss or two in classes :D
ReplyDeleteRicha
I'm glad it only ever happened once to me.
Deletethe biggest risk in love I ever took...
ReplyDelete5 days after I met TheHubs, he asked me to marry him.
I said yes.
A month later, we were married.
That was over 24 years ago. :)

That was a huge risk...Congratulations - I could never be that impulsive.
DeleteHow fabulous! Congratulations!
DeleteI don't think I've ever been that brave! How old were you? My usual MO was to admire from afar...I suppose that's why they didn't notice me.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I was ever intentionally that brave either... I was only 6 at the time. Sometimes admiring from afar can be heartbreaking or save us from embarrassment :)
DeleteBless Barnaby with his halo like hair. And you for having the inspiration to give him a kiss.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, in the name of love, lust, passion great risks have been taken .. by me, my shadow and I.

I see a lot of that colour hair in the part of the world I live in now - it reminds me of him so often. My shadow was definitely in charge that day....Bless her too :)
DeleteI've taken big risks, but not in relationships. And when I was a kid, I was too chicken to have acted impulsively like that. Looking back, I wonder how my life would have turned out if I had. I don't regret the life I have.. I love it in fact, but the creative in me wonders, what if?
ReplyDeleteWith out wonder there would be no wisdom, is fast becoming one of my favourite sayings of late. I wish I had have been more sensible at times, but like you I have no regrets :)
DeleteIn my 20's I once spent the rest of the night (after a night out) talking to a friend I really fancied but daren't do anything about it, he left and I went to work with about an hour's sleep... I always regretted it.
ReplyDeleteNext time I saw him (he'd moved away so not someone I used to bump into) it was the end of a night out, we said hello quite instinctively by kissing passionately, it was like the months inbetween hadn't existed and we'd naturally done what we both (I found out later) had wanted to do the first time we met...
Still gives me goosebumps thinking back...

Yeah, I've faced a Mrs. Mean in my life. :/
ReplyDeleteHehe..Ida sweet post! Err...yes I have risked what-not for love!! ;)
ReplyDeleteStolen moments and sweet kisses.........beautiful memories.
ReplyDeleteThanks
Nice to meet you, Ida.
ReplyDeleteIt's a great theme for the blogging challenge.
I agree with you in that love makes one take an enormous risk.
This is brilliant! Short, sweet and very entertaining. You sound like so much fun - really feisty and fierce.
ReplyDeleteQuickly becoming a huge fan,

Perfect! Yes, I've moved all over the place for love. To places where I didn't even know where to buy groceries. Fumbling in the dark for anything and everything, but it was ok...I had My Love.
ReplyDelete:)
I moved to another country, just 4 years ago... I could do an A-Z of the struggles I've had shopping :)
