What a wonderful world.

Blogging every day in May challenge:  A Day in the life (include photos from throughout your typical day - this could be "a photo an hour" if you'd like)

He spoils me with coffee and love hearts in bed, is there a nicer way to start the day?

I see fields of green, white and yellow too.

Find a happy rock at school - smile and the world smiles with you.

A spot of gardening, check out my lettuce seedlings.

Look out the window and see the Captain sailing towards home :)

Keeping this post short and sweet because as soon as the Captain gets home we are heading to the local for a traditional danish meal.

and maybe even a Tuborg

skål - [skoll] or cheers in any language.

Love and laughs
Ida

  1. What a great idea for a post! I've been thinking of doing a photo-a-day challenge for a while now. Maybe I'll take that on in June! I hope your dinner was divine!

    2. and dinner was hyggelig thanks - which is a lovely danish word that means cosy, familiar and loving - it really does take at least those three words to describe it, there is no literal translation :)

    1. My nostrils flare opened searching for the aroma of freshly percolated coffee and steaming hot milk when I saw your reaction :) The happy rock is much bigger than it looks, about knee height, I love it too.

    1. I only get the love hearts on the days he home that time of the morning, which makes the days he can do it even more wonderful :) The dish is called stegt flæsk med persillesovs og kartoffler and they say it like one long word. It translates to fried bacon with parsley sauce, potatoes and is served with beetroot and/or apple sauce. It it normally baked - culinary excellence in Denmark lies in dishes tasting the same as always.:)

    1. mmmm Danish style bacon, thick and crunchy with parsley sauce and new potatoes. Guaranteed no matter when you come it will taste the same and it was delicious. The forest is called Østerskoven (East forest), one of the few remaining in Denmark. Watching it change with the seasons is one of my greatest sources of wonder. Right now it smells like onions and garlic, because of the ancient wild leaf garlic growing in pockets, and the trees are glowing with fresh leaves :) Funny you popped in today, I had visited you earlier and drew a blank when I went to comment about not being shy, and networking but I must have got through somehow :D

    1. I remember the first time I saw this dish, I thought where's the vegies, salad at least? One of the restaurants has a weekly special that we have once every few months, and it's like home style comfort food for the danes, it was lovely, but good company and a sense of tradition help make it taste delicious :D

    1. I forgot the picture of the slug :D and it was just today, don't be fooled by the picture there is nothing haute cuisine about fried bacon fat and boiled potatoes at the local pub, (where everybody knows my name) which is to smoky to take a picture in, so I borrowed a shiny one off the net :)

  13. Greetings Ida,

What a wonderful day and what a wonderful morning. Such was my compulsion to comment on your post at almost three in the morning. Pretty wonderful of me :)

A day in the life of Ida and the world she holds so dear. I love this type of posting where the photos and the captions correlate so wonderfully. Lovely stuff. I'm off to find me a smiley face rock :)

Be well and enjoy, my friend.

    1. I think our body clocks share a wonderful thing in common. I was pretty happy how it correlated too, especially because it really was one of those nothing go wrong and all tedious chores can wait till tomorrow days. :) My happy rock only smiles after it rains, today was sunny and warm and it was just a rock - that can smile. :)

  15. Ah... one of my favourite songs... What A Wonderful World! It's such a feel-good song, with a simple catchy tune...

    I see friends shaking hands
    Saying how do you do
    They're really saying
    I love you...
    *humming along*

I taught this song to my choir kids... and then to the rest of the grade 4-7's... they love it!
