I recently completed the A to Z blogging challenge in April, it was a rewarding experience and I recommend getting involved, one way or another, in the next one.
The A to Z challenge's only requirement is that each day (except Sundays) you dedicate your post to that days letter, Day 1 = A, Day 2 is B etc... You can choose your own theme, or even not to have one, and it fosters a friendly connection with other bloggers as well as a commitment to post regularly.
My theme was Healing with words, and I did 'Q for Quotes', which ties in nicely with Day 4 of the May Challenge prompt. My reflections post provides the links to all the letters in my alphabet challenge and explains more about the whole adventure.
If I had to choose one quote from my Quotes post, that resonates with me right now I would find a creative way of showing you that I have to narrow it down to two, which is why I posted an image with Flannery O'Connors quote above and added this one too.

I'm already thinking of others that could easily take it's place. Check out my Q is for Quotes post for some of my all time favourites. The comments also provide a few extra quotes which are great too.
Go ahead and add your own, you never know who might need to read it, when, how or why but like any good quote, it might just change the direction they were heading in or give them a new perspective. Simple as that.

I love the Marianne quote. Her book A return to love was a revelation for me. I question the quote now because the opposite is also true. I see a lot of 'shine a light on me' rather than 'let me light our path.'

It was interesting to read the quotes..I like Robert Frost his poems are great & his lines are inspirational..one of my favourite quote "WOODS ARE LOVELY,DARK AND DEEP BUT I HAVE PROMISES TO KEEP AND MILES TO GO BEFORE I SLEEP AND MILES TO GO BEFORE I SLEEP..." DeleteWow! You certainly have accomplished a lot in your life, but the best thing was of course to find your love again. What a wonderful story. And now you live in Denmark, where the happiest people on earth can be found (I saw that on Oprah). I'm from Sweden and I have been to Denmark many times. I will never forget how good the food, the bread, the milk, etc. tastes there. Or at least it used to.
ReplyDeleteYou asked about the tree on my post. It is an ornamental fruit tree of some kind. The parking lot of our grocery story in town is full of them. It is quite a sight every spring. It many be ornamental cherry, but I am not sure.
Sometimes it still doesn't feel like a lot, but it does feel like enough for now and Denmark really is a happy place, for the most part. I find traditional Danish a food a little boring, it's very pork, potatoes and brown gravy for every day, not that there's anything wrong with that, but I love variety and the fresh herbs and spices of Asian, Middle East and Mediterranean flavours. i do believe Danes have the best bread in the world, which I believe is the reason I am 10kgs heavier since I moved here :) The flowers on that tree look bigger than an ornamental cherry in the photo. I can see one in the distance from my window, i guess I am just going to have make friends with another neighbour :)
DeleteI love that quote; it's in my collection! Yes, I collect quotes; I have a whole book full. If I had to pick just one: "Life can be as bitter as dragon tears, but whether dragon tears are bitter or sweet depends entirely on how one perceives the taste" - Dean Koontz. I read this quote a very long time ago when I was struggling in my personal life as a teenager. I have a tattoo that or comedy and tragedy masks that, for me, depicts that quote.

Brandy, I got caught reading your recommendation - 'Cunt: a declaration of independence' by Inga Muscio... what a fascinating, well thought out and well written piece. I'm all for CPR, except I think Retaliation could just be Respect. The comedy/tragedy masks changed my life as a teenager too , their message is ageless and timeless :) Can't wait to see what joy D in your swearing challenge posts delivers ;)

ReplyDeleteRobert Frost said a lot in brevity. My human is always quoting himself. Although perhaps the best quote he heard was from me. "We animals have much to teach you humans about non-judgemental, unconditional love. If only you would learn our lessons."

Dear Penny the Jack Russell dog and Modest Internet Superstar, it seems Frost said a lot inebriated and in brevity I don't really know much about him apart from this quote (for now).. Penny, some of the clearest, honest and valuable lessons I have ever learned are from studying the behaviour of animals - I plan to do some posts on them at some point. One dog I met on a highway, when he was tied to the back of a truck, taught me about the special language we share, I have never been bitten by a dog since :) Don't worry Penny he was safe and respected by his human, and none of my dog bites were scarring or dangerous.

ReplyDeleteI really love that quote Bethie. I often remind people that there is really only one thing we do that aren't taught from birth (breathing) the rest we learned or gained from another source - and it ties in nicely with my humility and gratitude posts too.
