Yes, there was that whole no school thing, but what really excited me about summer was the library. A day or two after school let out my mom took us to the library. My sister and I eagerly signed up for the reading program. We picked the number of books we thought we could read over the summer. At each quarter mark we received a prize; ice cream cone, burger, pizza, etc. My mom never let us fudge on our goals. She made sure it would be a challenge for us to finish and that we picked out books at our age level or above. I remember afternoons of reading in blanket tents, on my bed, and outside. I was never bored when I was reading a book. And now, all these years later, I'm writing my first book. Hurray for reading!Jillian Lisa Pearlhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13078661039365312437noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5349028882566941779.post-16292451121970818652014-04-20T11:52:21.144-07:002014-04-20T11:52:21.144-07:00I once used clothes pegs to attach my book to a ha...I once used clothes pegs to attach my book to a hanger so I could read while I was doing dishes.
